Individual charged for causing multi-vehicle crash on Atherton Street

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in State College say a local resident is behind bars after intentionally driving through a busy intersection and causing a multi-vehicle crash on South Atherton Street Tuesday morning. According to the criminal affidavit, first responders were dispatched to the intersection of South Allen and South Atherton Streets, just after 10 a.m., for a report of a multi-vehicle crash. Man charged with burglary, raping woman at Altoona Motel 6

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — Police arrested a man they said forced his way into a woman's hotel room and repeatedly raped her for 6 1/2 hours. According to Logan Township police, 51-year-old Kevin Thompkins assaulted the victim sexually and physically at a Motel 6 along Sterling Street from 11 p.m. Friday until 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Man purchases, designs custom caskets for victims of Uvalde school shooting

Uvalde, TX (CNN) — A family-run company has donated 19 custom caskets for the victims of the Uvalde school shooting. The caskets came from Trey Ganem of Soulshine Industries, based in Edina, Texas. Hanem says he was contacted by the Texas Funeral Directors Association the day of the shooting. He said he worked tirelessly with his 15-year-old son to get them assembled, designed and delivered in time for the funerals. [Read More]

Altoona man confessed to fatally stabbing mother after leap from parking garage: Police

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — UPDATE #4: Police say an Altoona man fatally stabbed his mother in the neck during an argument. Altoona police provided new details Thursday surrounding the murder of 61-year-old Maureen Mazenko. Police say they were called to the 200 block of E. Maple Avenue where they found Mazenko dead in the living room of the residence. Police say Joshua Leyo lived there with his mother.
