City working to repair, upgrade aging playgrounds throughout Johnstown
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Local officials say work is underway to replace some of Johnstown’s aging playground equipment.
On Tuesday, crews were seen tearing down the wooden playground on Village Street in Johnstown’s Moxham neighborhood.
City manager Ethan Imhoff says they're working to rebuild the park with new equipment once the weather breaks.
He says work also includes the city's Somerset Street playground and the Sandyvale Park, although that work will mostly include adding new equipment to those playgrounds.

Florida man wanted for multiple charges found hiding in a dryer
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) — Deputies in Florida arrested a 31-year-old man in Escambia County after finding him hidden inside a dryer.
David Jerome Jackson had been wanted since March for charges of shooting into a dwelling, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, damage to property, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He was located after Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a tip that Jackson was inside a home off Edgewater Drive.

Reitz Theatre receives $300,000 grant to make improvements
DuBois, PA — The Reitz Theater was the only building to survive the Downtown DuBois fire in the late 1880s.
Since then, Culture Resources Incorporated purchased the building and started the Reitz Theater back in the 1990s.
Recently they were awarded $300,000 from the Department of Economic Development for this theater.
"They gave us an additional $300,000 on our own we had raised about $140,000 so we're using all those funds together to do some improvements on the building and also to build our addition,"

Westmont grad to be featured on newest season of national reality show
JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — A Johnstown native will be a contestant on a national reality show.
Christine Connors is a 2013 graduate of Westmont Hilltop High School and will be competing on season 3 of “Tough as Nails” on CBS.
Christine works as a welding inspector in California.
She says she applied to be on the show in March, and after a series of interviews and physical tests, she was selected in May.
