The superintendent from C & R Directional Boring told 6 News thousands of feet of pipe were ready to be installed and one of them was already in the ground before someone realized something was wrong.

Man arrested in Delaware robbery suspected in slaying
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities say a man arrested in a violent robbery in Delaware earlier this week will face charges in the slaying of a donut ship manager during a robbery in north Philadelphia over the weekend. Chief Inspector Frank Vanore said 39-year-old Keith Gibson is believed responsible for the slaying early Saturday of 40-year-old Christine Lugo. He was arrested after a drugstore robbery and assault early Tuesday in Wilmington, Delaware and is being investigated in a number of other robberies and slayings.

Man indicted in chilling deaths of 3 women
PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A grand jury indicted a 39-year-old man for the murders of three women who were found dead under suspicious circumstances last year.
Five missing women were found deceased in various Oregon and Washington counties across three months in 2023. Jesse Calhoun was initially identified by multiple agencies as a suspect in four of the deaths during the investigation. He was arrested on a parole violation on June 6, 2023.

Meet Ellie! Somerset County's water search and rescue K9
SOMERSET, Pa. (WJAC) — The Somerset County Swiftwater Flood Response Team held demonstrations during the Somerset Night Out earlier this week.
Volunteers show attendees what the team does and how to stay safe while out on the water.
They also demonstrated how they use their equipment.
One of the demonstrations featured K9 Ellie.
Officials say she is able to find drowning victims by using the scent she picks up from the water.

Trial delayed again for Johnstown man Brian Giles, who is accused of killing his wife
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Authorities with the Cambria County District Attorney's office say the trial for Johnstown man Brian Giles, who is accused of killing his wife, has once again been delayed.
Following a previous delay in the case, Giles was initially scheduled to go to trial next month.
Now, authorities say the case is delayed as Giles' defense awaits the results of a pending psychological evaluation.
In May of 2022, police charged Giles with homicide following a three-and-a-half year investigation into the disappearance and death of his wife Nancy.

German students get work experience in Cambria County during 'Gap year' after high school
Johnstown, Pa — While some students graduate high school and jump right into college - others take something called a 'gap year'.
6 News spoke with recent high school grads currently pursuing a gap year.
The students say they are aware taking a gap year is not very common in the U.S. but where they are from – its nothing out of the ordinary.

Pest control worker caught urinating in local family's living room enters plea
Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Cambria County court officials confirmed that an area pest control worker who was caught on video urinating inside a local family's living room has entered a plea in the case.
Officials say Roger Young appeared in court earlier this week where he pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct.
Authorities note that the charge was downgraded to a non-traffic citation, and his other charge of criminal mischief was withdrawn.

PSP IDs couple killed in 3-vehicle crash on Route 220 in Centre Co.
UPDATE:CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — State police have identified the two people killed in Tuesday's three-vehicle crash in Centre County.
Troopers say Harry and Meredith Dillon, both age 69 and from Tyrone, were traveling northbound along Route 220, also known as South Eagle Valley Road, when their vehicle crossed the center line, for unknown reasons.
Investigators say they struck the driver's side of one vehicle before colliding head-on into another.
